Outline

Since fiscal 2022, the three organizations (Toyama Glass Studio, Toyama Institute of Glass Art, and Toyama Glass Art Museum) established under Toyama City’s long-standing glass-centered policy initiative have been collaborating to present exhibitions in conjunction with the Toyama Institute of Glass Art Graduation Exhibition. These programs aim to support artists and contribute to the industrial advancement of glass, a field the city has promoted as a key area of its urban planning for more than 40 years.

In this fourth edition, commemorating the appointment of glass artist Takahashi Yoshihiko as the new director of Toyama Glass Studio in May 2025, the exhibition showcases new directions at the studio through his works and those of 17 artists who are studio members.

The studio Takahashi envisions is not merely a place for production, but a hub of technical skills where a variety of techniques and talents gather, creating synergies and expanding creative potential. Just as a music studio brings together artists and engineers in collabozration, this exhibition conveys how the Glass Studio serves as a space where artists and staff work closely together, respecting each artist’s individuality while exploring new forms of expression in harmony.

As in previous years, the Toyama Institute of Glass Art Graduation Exhibition 2026 will be held concurrently in Exhibition Room 3 on the third floor and Galleries 1 and 2 on the fifth floor, inviting visitors to explore the building widely and witness the achievements of all three organizations.
