Outline
“Layering” is the key word in this edition of our collection exhibition, which introduces works from our collection. Stacking multiple thin layers of sheet glass, covering multiple colors of glass, creating forms by cutting into layered glass . . . A cornucopia of expressive effects can be seen that can be achieved only by layering, and only in glass. These works have a distinct three-dimensional quality resulting from the transmission of the colors and motifs in the lower layers and the unique visual effects from light’s complex reflections and refractions. The act of layering is one of the techniques that can make the most of the characteristics of glass. Through this exhibition, we hope that visitors will appreciate the various expressions that layering can generate in glass.
